Tourism Arrivals Slightly Up in June and July
The numbers for tourist arrivals between January and July have been released and, according to the Belize Tourism Board, those figures are showing an improvement. Overnight arrivals saw a one point six percent increase in June and almost doubled in July. Meanwhile, cruise arrivals have increased marginally by zero point two percent. The overall decline in cumulative arrivals within the first seven months of 2015 is attributed to the steady decrease in the number of overnight guests from Canada. Scientific indicators are showing that Canada’s economy is experiencing a downward spiral. On the other hand, cruise arrivals for this year have seen significant increases in January and March, recording a sixteen point six and fifteen point eight percent increase, individually. The cancellation of two calls in February, due to adverse weather conditions, resulted in a slight decrease of two point seven percent.
