O.W. man killed by hit & run truck

Authorities in Orange Walk are looking for the driver of vehicle that knocked down a cyclist, fatally injuring him, on Sunday night. Police reports to News 5 are that forty-nine-year-old Guadelupe Manuel Quetzal was riding his bike from Orange Walk Town towards San Estevan Village, but a mile before reaching his destination, Quetzal was hit from behind by a still unidentified vehicle. When his body was discovered face down the following morning on the right hand side of the road, evidence collected at the scene put the time of death at around six Sunday night. Police also found wide tyre tracks, pieces of a wooden truck frame and shards of glass believed to be parts of a headlight. Official sources tell News 5 the suspected perpetrator is believed to have been driving a cane truck. As a result, physical inspections of all cane trucks that delivered to the factory during the time of the knockdown are being carried out. A post mortem examination of the body has determined the cause of death as multiple skull factures. If you have any information that may assist the police in their investigation, please contact the Orange Walk Police Station.
