3 charged with attempted suppression of evidence

Three people have been arrested and charged for what police say is the crime of attempting to suppress evidence and harm. Eighteen-year-old Joshua Lewis along with a sixteen-year-old and a seventeen-year-old were arrested following a report that they threatened to kill forty-three-year old Hilbert Cutkelvin. Police say Cutkelvin was in front of the Marine Terminal in Belize City on Thursday afternoon when he was accosted by the three youths. During the altercation, Lewis is reported to have told him to drop charges against his father or he would be killed. Police say the three men then proceeded to beat Cutkelvin. Lewis and the other two youths have been charged for the crime of attempted suppression of evidence and because a medical officer classified Cutkelvin’s injuries as harm, they were also charged for harm. The Police Department reminds the general public that it is a crime to threaten or attempt to intimidate anyone in order to try and keep them from proceeding with any matter before a court of law.
