Lisa Shoman Takes Finnegan to Task
Member for Mesopotamia Michael Finnegan took his licks from the UWG, but he was also a topic of interest in the Senate today. Before the debate on the vesting act, and even before the hotly contested B.T.L. settlement, Finnegan was named in the Senate for his unfortunate comments about CWU President, Audrey Matura-Shepherd.
Lisa Shoman, Senator, People’s United Party
“I hope you will allow me one moment of parliamentary privilege to say Mister President that as a woman and as a senator, I am deeply offended and I reject that language that was used by the honourable Michael Finnegan yesterday in the House of Representatives against the President of the Christian Workers Union, Misses Audrey Matura-Shepherd. It is unacceptable for any member of parliament to abuse parliamentary privilege to attack in such a personal manner someone who is unable to defend herself in the same forum and that this kind of incivility needs to stop, immediately. I hope that all senators will join me in such condemnation and I hope to never hear that kind of an attack levied against any member of the public again. Thank you, Mister President.”
Well!! Is she good at certain things. Such a statement is a stretch to a sexual innuendo and only becomes such in the minds of perverts. I’m sure Ms Matura is good at many things and if that includes her matrimonial duties, that is certainly not a negative thing. Whether Finnegan, if he was referring to such activities, should have brought this up in chambers is another matter. He has no business in what dat lady do in here personal chambers. It could be that Finnegan was using a well used tactic to deflect focus on real issues. Ms Matura should know this she is a lawyer after all meddling in politics.
