As we told you, the settlement was penned and approved in both houses of the National Assembly in a matter of four business days. Senator Shoman says that’s just plain indecent haste, and claimed that Prime Minister Dean Barrow will rue the day he spawned this demon child.

“In the event that the arbitral tribunal is unable to issue an order substantively in the form agreed to by the parties by September twentieth, the settlement deed shall be ineffective and shall terminate. I repeat, it is a naked usurpation by an overweening Executive with a paucity of checks and balances that facily on its own, without regard to parliament, went and signed a settlement on the eleventh of September, already agreeing to what we are being asked to approve in this chamber and what has been approved in the House and that was done by his own confession, by one man, the Prime Minister himself. It is his baby; he has nursed it, he has birth it and he will be responsible for foisting this chucky on a Belizean public. This is going to end up being a demon child; mark my words.”
