Still No Arrests in Russell Hyde’s Murder

Russell Hyde

Belmopan Police have made no arrests in the very sensational murder of Roaring Creek underworld figure Russell Hyde. Hyde, along with his companion Marcy Humes, was gunned down on August twenty-eighth as the couple approached his Camalote hilltop home. While there are no arrests, Police believe they know who was responsible, or at least involved.

Supt. Howell Gillett, Officer Commanding, Belmopan

“Nobody has been arrested to date, but yes we have two persons were are seeking for questioning in relation to this incident.”

Mike Rudon

“Would we be able to confirm at this time that one of those persons is a young man who has been sought from as far back as the shooting of Roselia Galvez the common-law wife of Russell Hyde?”

“Because of the nature of the investigation so far, we wouldn’t want to give away anything. Yes we are working on the leads and they are suspects. We need to interview them first…have them brought in and interview them so that we can have some more light on what really took place on that night.”

“I know because of the identity of the person who was killed, Russell Hyde, and the tensions—if you want to call it that—in Roaring Creek, there has been a need for more police presence. At this time, is that still sustained in that area?”

Supt. Howell Gillett

“Some months ago, we started…because of the rise in crime at that time, there was an increase in police officers. Viewers may recall, back then, Roaring Creek used to go only at twelve midnight on a daily basis, but now we have twenty-four hours police in Roaring Creek. And also, apart from that, we have continuous operations being carried out by some of our specialized units within the area and that is what I believe is keeping crime at a manageable level in the area.”

Credible sources tell us that Hyde’s murder may have been in retaliation for the May murder of Roaring Creek resident and Hyde’s right hand man, Edilberto Madrid. Hyde was detained for questioning in that murder, but released.
