A Look Back At September 21, 1981
Thirty-four years ago at midnight, the Union Jack was lowered and the Belizean standard was hoisted to signal’s Belize’s independence as a free and sovereign nation. The giant, who led Belize to Independence and is revered as the father of the nation, George Price, stood proud and tall as the country ushered in a new beginning. Tonight, we revisit one of our stories that captured that great moment in history on September twenty-first, 1981.
{A look back at the Independence Day, 1981…}
I really enjoyed this clip especially the part that showed the parade. People looked and carried themselves so modestly and with such order. I also appreciated the various dance that some of the different ethnic groups did. I wish Belize would teach its people, especially the youth, more about Belize’s history and teach them how to carry themselves better than they now do. The society has been dumbed down so much by the vilest, nastiest things on the radio and television. I wish Belize could be even just 10% of what it used to be. We would at least not hear some of the stories we have been hearing lately on the news. Let’s stop hurting and killing out ourselves. God help Belize! God save Belize!!
