Election Stakeholders Meet to Discuss November 4th

This morning at the ITVET in Belize City, political parties, their prospective candidates, as well as all public officers assigned to the upcoming general elections met to discuss a comprehensive plan of action come November fourth.  As it stands, there are a number of policies in place.  Likewise, there are regulations that govern the election process.  Chief Elections Officer Josephine Tamai told the media that the session served as somewhat of a refresher for all involved.

“This morning, the meeting that we had was for the political parties.  We had sent out an invitation for political parties and prospective candidates to attend a meeting.  It is something that’s traditional whenever we go into an election.  We sit and we do basically like a refresher training for them so that they understand the processes because in this we’re all stakeholders and we need to ensure and remind persons of the laws as it relates to an election.  We need to inform them of policies, what practices will be in place on that day.  We finalized the list of nomination stations, polling stations, counting stations.  We explained that counting will be done simultaneously because we want to get the results out, the number of agents that will be allowed in the polling and counting stations and how they are appointed and other matters we discussed this morning.”
