Trio Accused for Murder of Ramon Cervantes Sr. Return to Court

Gaspar Vega

Three men accused of the murder of Ramon Cervantes Senior were back in Court today for what was expected to be just a procedural matter, but that was turned upside down by an explosive accusation made by one of the accused. According to reports from inside the Courtroom, while on the stand one of the three asked the Magistrate for permission to speak, and when that was granted, he pointed to a family member as the person who ordered the hit. Following an immediate outburst the Court was cleared while the Magistrate took a statement from the accused turned accuser. That statement was later struck out by the Magistrate. Today we spoke to Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega, who himself has been accused of orchestrating the vicious murder of the elderly Cervantes. He told us that since he knows how it feels, he wouldn’t wish it on anybody.

Gaspar Vega, Deputy Prime Minister

“I have just heard it just now. I don’t know what’s going on.”

Reporter

“Okay, now it was thrown out of court, I am hearing, but the allegation by Monchi is that it is pure politics and the suggestion is that it is your camp playing some serious politics.”

Gaspar Vega

“I don’t know if I should even answer that. If you notice, throughout my campaign I don’t even try to mention that guy’s name; much less use that type of politics. It is not in my nature.”

Reporter

“Now sir, this is an event that has changed your life, in terms of you have been accused of orchestrating murder publicly and it has changed your life. Explain to me how difficult it is to take that load into this election.”

Gaspar Vega

“Well, it is difficult mostly with my kids, especially the younger ones because they’ve been attacked. It is the first time that my kids…and when I say kids, twelve year and fourteen year kids get attacked because of politics.”

Reporter

“You mean verbally attacked?”

Gaspar Vega

“Verbally, send text and play games with them, but I leave it in the hands of God. Yes it’s been heavy and I hope that no one else plays games like those because it is not good for the entire community if we start to make those types of political games and every time we have campaigns, it is common practice.”

Reporter

“Sir, if these two persons making this complaint are running again, so to speak, you are saying you do not endorse it or you actually don’t want it to happen”

Gaspar Vega

“By no means, no means. I know what I’ve been through being accused of orchestrating or being involved with murder and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”
