“On Saturday, October twenty-fourth 2015, sometime around 6:15 p.m., Punta Gorda police responded to a call of a fatal traffic accident between miles two and three on the San Antonio [Road] near the Southern Highway.  Upon arrival there, they saw the lifeless body of a Creole descent man lying down on the right hand side of the road when coming from the direction of Forest Home.  Investigation reveals that this person who was later identified as Marsden Edison Ramirez, that’s his AKA because at this time it is not confirmed whether indeed, in fact this is his name because a couple months back he was detained after being brought in by members of the Social Security Board, pending an investigation pertaining to the name.  Next to the body was a Toyota Forerunner which at the time was being driven by an American citizen, Steven Fredrick, sixty-three-years-old, a resident of San Ignacio Town.  The body was taken to the Punta Gorda morgue where it was pronounced dead on arrival.  This matter is under investigation and the driver has been served with a notice of intended prosecution, awaiting the conclusion of the investigation.”

In the Corozal District, sometime after midnight on Sunday a hit and run accident claimed the life of Xaibe resident, forty-four-year-old Leonardo Novelo.  According to Superintendent Dennis Arnold, the victim was walking along the road when he was struck by a motorist who kept on driving.  When Corozal police were later notified of what happened, the man had already succumbed to his injuries.  The body was later transported to the morgue at the K.H.M.H. where an autopsy has been scheduled.  The other traffic victim is thirty-five year old Daniel Kau who was knocked down by San Victor resident Teofilo Oba who was driving his van on his way to village. Kau was taken to the Corozal Community Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
