Trio Acquitted of the Murder of B.D.F. Soldier
Three Belize City men accused of the November twenty-third 2012 murder of B.D.F. soldier James Noralez learnt their fate this morning. Noralez’s bullet ridden body was found lying on the pavement at the intersection of Faber’s Road Extension and the Western Highway. Judge Troadio Gonzalez ruled that Tyrone Meighan, Orel Leslie, and Brandon Baptist had no case to answer. On hearing the decision, the trio wasted no time and dashed out of the courtroom. In his ruling, Judge Troadio Gonzalez said that after he carefully perused the submissions, he concluded that based on the evidence produced by the crown, a conviction could not be secured. The defence attorneys for the men, Ellis Arnold, Dickie Bradley and Arthur Saldivar submitted that the evidence before the court was circumstantial and there were no eyewitnesses in the murder. The trial by judge without jury of Meighan, Leslie and Baptist began on October sixth, 2015 and concluded this morning.
It’s ironic how someone could put their live on the line to defend the constitution of Belize. But yet when
they’re murdered by thugs who would not even take up the challenge to serve their country,No one seems to care. You don’t even need to go to Law school to beat a murder case in Belize because the system is Institutional and not intellectual. That being said where is the Gang affiliated selective PM to condemn such miscarriage of justice.Maybe he should make Shyne serve in the Ranks of the BDF to know what a real Job is.Shame on you Judge Gonzalez. You need to resign. We’ve gone from Land of the free to Land of the Free Murderers.
