Border finance officer charged with theft
He was financial officer for the Western Border Management Agency in Cayo, but tonight twenty nine year old Edwardo Raul Ayala is settling into the comfort of Her Majesty’s prison in Hattieville. Ayala was arrested this week after a report from his former employer that over thirteen thousand dollars went missing under his watch in January. According to San Ignacio police, on January third, fourteenth and eighteenth, the accused signed for four bags containing the missing money, which could not be accounted for during reconciliation. Ayala, who resigned his post at the end of January, was arraigned in San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court today on four charges of theft. Because the incident involved government revenue, Magistrate Lyndon Flowers did not offer the option of bail and Ayala was remanded until his next court appearance on March Second.
