New crossword book highlights Belize

She migrated to the United States many years ago, but Kim Neal has not forgotten her Belizean roots. Last week she came back home for a visit, not just to check up on friends and family, but also to promote her new book of crossword puzzles, all about Belize. Neal says the book entitled: “Kruffy Puz: Solving Belize” was motivated by a desire to tell the world about her beloved country.

?I have three target markets actually. One, the educational system because I don?t want it to be seen just as a form of pure entertainment because it?s educational too. And of tourists, but I don?t want to call them tourists. I would rather say foreigners who are interested in learning about Belize and of course Belizeans because to me this is a very easy, simple and fun way of reintroducing yourself to Belize.?

?Interspersed in the puzzles there are a lot of what I like to call little compositions that explain most of the puzzles, not all. What I did, I picked some of the most difficult puzzles and I did a little write up, like a little essay I guess you could call it on those puzzles. That way it will help the non Belizean to solve the puzzle and it will also jog the Belizeans memory because some of those things I didn?t even know and I am the one that wrote the book.?
