Students will march on Wednesday
Belizean students are planning to state their position on the Musa administration’s budget on Wednesday by holding a rally and march through the streets of Belize City. According to representatives of the student bodies of the University of Belize and Saint John’s Junior College, the voices of the country’s youngest citizens must be heard amid the din of protests.

?We are the majority of the population and as I said before we are the future leaders and right now the gap of young youth is that we?ll be in the working force very soon. So, we have to come out and understand that we are standing up for something. It?s not a political issues. I will keep mentioning that. This has nothing to do with politics. This has to do with our future and we want to make that known so the politicians don?t take this as their gain in any way. But the topic just happens to be that it links somewhere with politics because it?s the politicians who made the decision to put us in the hole where we are today. So please come out all the youths in Belize, all the ghetto youths them. You could come out and support. This is a peaceful demonstration just to let the Government hear our voice.?

?Okay, I am partially with them and partially against them in certain respects. When I look at it, I?m with them to the point that I understand their cry and I understand where they are coming from but also they need to understand that we are punishing as well. That?s the reason why we having this demonstration tomorrow to show that we are the ones who being affected the most because you know, we are getting cheated out of a week of school. Personally, I am supposed to graduate in May. I don?t know if that?s still possible. And we also have different examinations. The fourth formers have CXCs, we have A-levels and we have to take it out of our holiday to build up back. So that was kind of an issue with us. But for the most part, I am with them. I am willing to make that sacrifice out of my holiday because the government does need reform.?
The student march and rally begins at eight thirty at Memorial Park in Belize City. A youth forum has also been planned for four Wednesday afternoon at the University of the West Indies. The topic is Freedom of Speech, Rights and Responsibilities.
