Belize/Guatemala website will promote trade
Belizeans producers and entrepreneurs who are interested in cross border trade with Guatemala now have a new tool to facilitate multi lateral business investments. Under the “Enhancing Commercial Linkages” project, that seeks to promote private sector commercial activities between Belize and our neighbour to the west, a new website was launched this afternoon to promote opportunities for investments in both countries. According to local project coordinator Alyssa Noble, the site is already making important connections.

?Well, the purpose of the website was basically to enhance and facilitate commercial linkages between Belize and Guatemala to promote trade; to give producers of Belize and also of Guatemala an area of forum, which they can easily promote their products, easily promote their companies; a global level a bi-national level where it is not necessarily any intermediary. It?s very direct and we also wanted to give students and educators a resource that they can use to easily locate information in terms of Guatemala and Belize, their relations, both trade, both individual as well as terms of you can find on Belize, information you can find on Guatemala. We really do hope to expand this as well. I do think that was our major purpose for this design and implementation of this website.?

?This mutual cooperation agreement between Belize and Guatemala, how is it going? Is this for real??
Alyssa Noble
?Yes, it?s very much for real.?
?It really did set a president. We worked together so well cohesively and this project is basically one of the biggest examples that can show that two countries that were always previously thought to have such animosity can actually get together on a level of trade and of common interest. Its really well and it is very much for real.?
?The website is www.belguatrade.com. Students and educators can find resources there; the country profiles. They can find general information. Producers, companies, entrepreneurs can look at different companies that are here and try to find out different information; what are the supplies, the demands and what are the needs of the different countries as well.?
Noble says the site, which is available in both English and Spanish, took roughly six months to put together. It was launched last month in Guatemala City.
