Smart Goes 4G LTE in December
The first 4G LTE network will be launched in Belize on December fifteenth when Smart plans to roll out a new and innovative system countrywide. LTE, short for Long Term Evolution, promises increased capacity and unprecedented speed and reliability. But what does it mean for Smart customers? Well, according to Public Relations Manager Linette Canto, you can enjoy streaming music, watching videos on demand and business conferencing. With an investment of nine million dollars, Smart says it continues to play a crucial role in increasing broadband connectivity in Belize.

“We’re super excited we are going into the launch/rollout of our 4G LTE network. This is the first that ever that Belizeans will be able to enjoy what we call real 4G and we know that it will definitely impact customers in a positive way. Smart has been the very first in many areas. We have launched cutting edge technology time and time again but this is the icing on the cake, Belizean has been asking for it for a while now. We have done test and when we are testing it goes 20 times as fast as you would get on the 3G network. Now we are figuring with more people on it, it will not be as fast but we are predicting speed of up to ten times. Let’s say u are watching a movie now you will be getting buffering when we go 4G you don’t have to worry about that. It is going to be the ease and convenience of watching a movie form start to finish with very little buffering,. In addition business people will be able to do real time file sharing, video conferencing, live streaming, I mean the sky is the limit. So this will definitely change the surface of communication here in Belize. Customers will experience a profound difference what is being sold presently by the other provider is called HSPA plus which is not 4G it is a part of the 3G family. What you will receive with Smart is real 4G, it’s LTE which is long term evolution and that is recognized around the world as the best that is being offered in 4G technology.”
The advent of LTE will also encourage the pervasive adoption and use of information and communications technology tools in everyday business operations.
