2 Men Will Stand Trial for Separate Fatal RTAs

Errol Belisle

Two men, who were charged in connection with separate traffic accidents, were today committed to stand trial at the Supreme Court for Manslaughter by Negligence.  Sixty-one-year-old Errol Belisle and twenty-four-year-old Boyd Lopez, following a preliminary inquiry, will have to appear in the higher court for separate traffic accident fatalities. The first case dealt with was that of Belisle, who is accused of knocking down and killing eleven-year-old Austin Olivera, a Stella Maris student, in Ladyville in March of this year.  Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith proceeded to accept a number of statements and documentary evidence that prosecutor, Inspector Egbert Castillo filed and Belisle was committed to stand trial on January eighteenth, 2016. Belisle was offered bail of five thousand dollars, plus one surety of the same amount.

Boyd Lopez

The next case was that of nineteen-year-old Boyd Lopez; he is accused of knocking down and killing seventy-two-year-old Maria Knowles at the intersection of Baghdad Street and Water Lane.  It is believed that Lopez was intoxicated when the vehicle he drove crashed into two water pipes and a fence before hitting the elderly woman.  He was also driving without a license.  In court, Lopez was charged with Manslaughter by Negligence among several other traffic offenses and Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith also offered him bail in the sum of five thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount. Lopez’s trial is to start in the April session of the Supreme Court.

Now what happened to Mr. Miguel Segura who, while drunk driving, killed Yolanda Valencia last year. We have not heard anything from the police. Are they covering up because Mr Segura is a police. Come on Mr. Commissioner of police , do justice .
