St Luke’s plays out

Story PictureThe Christmas holidays may be over, but it’s never too late for The Message of Christ. And that’s just what a group of young people from the St. Luke Methodist Church in Belize City want you to remember. On Thursday night, they will take to the stage at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts to showcase “Belizean Nativity” a play based on “Christmas Story” in Sir Colville Young’s Pataki Full. One of the producers of the show, Steven Duncan, says it is a family event and everyone is invited.

Steven Duncan, Producer, Belizeans Nativity
?The idea is to try to bring to life the fall from the creation, Garden of Eden right through to the prophet Isaiah through to the forerunner John the Baptist and then on to the nativity, the birth of Jesus.?

Patrick Jones
?How hard has it been for you taking part in this play??

Candice Williams, Playing the part of Eve
?Well not very hard because I find that I have most of the characteristics of Eve.?

Germaine Bryant, Playing the part of the Serpent
?She listens to my evil thoughts and my evil ways. And she likes it and she follows me and I tempt her to eat the apple. And by eating the apple she disobeys one of God?s laws and therefore evil and all is cast on the earth.?

Ellis Sanchez, Playing the part of Adam
?Adam plays the husband of Eve and also like part the fool-fool because he in turn gets tricked by his wife to eat the forbidden fruit, break the rule and then get kicked out of the Garden of Eden.?

Patrick Jones
?What message is in this for young people??

Ellis Sanchez
?The message for young people in this is that you have to stay focus, follow a path in life in order to succeed. And so that was the beginning and shows how in the beginning we went wrong and it?s going to be a tough road to try to catch up back, but with time and process and progress we could see we will make it.?

Steven Duncan
?This is going to be done tomorrow night, Thursday at the Bliss Centre for the performing arts. And it?s really being done by the congregation of St. Luke Methodist church as two things, one a fund raiser and secondly part of getting the youths involved and develop character building within our community where the church is located. So the youths are by and large from that area. You have from other areas but most of them from that area.?

Tickets for the show are fifteen dollars reserved and ten dollars general admission. Showtime is at seven o’clock.
