Adventists host children for Christmas

Story PictureThis evening the Seventh Day Adventist Church hosted a Christmas party for over two hundred children from Fabers Road and surrounding areas. The boys and girls, who had to sit through a series of speeches before they were given their gift bags, did not seem to mind the long wait. According to the deputy leader of the Adventists health care ministry, Joan Goff, the heavy turnout indicates the importance of what they’re doing.

Joan Goff, Deputy Leader-Health Care Ministry
?It?s not something big. But it?s something that will let the kids know that we care and with God?s help everything is possible because we don?t really have it but we go around, me and Brother Rodriguez, asking people for donations and asking for different things. We have to give God thanks and praise that a lot of people did give us a hand. A lot of them said that they will assist us next year because they can?t help us this year. But with God?s help we did. We catered for two hundred and fifty kids today. Not everyone will get toys, but they will get book bags, pencils and sharpeners and things like that that would help them in school. That is our objective, to help our kids in our neighbourhood.?

The party was held at number 7485 Neat and Clean Lane just off of Fabers Road Extension. Goff says it is from this address that they hold free health clinics throughout the year for children and other neighbourhood residents.
