Woman Detained at San Ignacio Station Says Policeman Raped Her

There is a serious allegation tonight coming out of San Ignacio but details are sketchy. A twenty-five year old woman from the village of Bullet Tree was in police custody when she was allegedly raped. She claims that at about five thirty on Sunday morning while she was being held at the police station, an officer took her out of the cell and to a dark room where he raped her.  Police would only say today that they have detained the police officer and continue to investigate. Meanwhile, a nine-year-old old minor of Honduran nationality of Bella Vista Village, Toledo District, claims that two months ago she was raped by a man with whom she is acquainted. According to the girl, the abuse occurred on the twenty-eighth of October at her house where the culprit who she identifies as Don Chindo sexually assaulted her as her brothers and sisters slept. Police have arrested and charged fifty-eight year old Honduran, Gumercindo Garcia of Bella Vista Village for the crime of unlawful sexual assault.
