A Christmas Parade in Ladyville

Shane Henry

If you’re from the Ladyville community and are watching this story, then it’s likely you’re missing out on the first every Christmas Parade organized by the victory Assembly of God Church. According to reports we’re gotten it’ll be something to see, with churches and other groups joining in to bring some Christmas spirit to the area. Today Shane Henry from the victory Assembly of God Church visited our studio to extend an invitation.

“It started up as us just doing a little bit of carolling and the churches all decided to come together and do something bigger and better than carolling. It turned out to be a parade. The churches include Ladyville Victory Assembly, the Evangelical Church in Ladyville and a host of different churches around the community, as well as the Village Council, the Police Cadets, the BDF Cadets and a host of other people as well. This is the first of its kind in Ladyville, and it’s something that we want to do consistently every year. So this year is not going to be as big probably as the guys you see in Belmopan, because they’re been doing this for a long time but it’s the start of something new here for us in Ladyville, so definitely it’s going to be great. We have a lot of sponsors who gave us a lot of sweets so we’ll be giving out sweets to the kids along the route of the parade so it’s going to be a lot of fun, a lot of live music as well.”

“What’s the route of the parade?”

“The parade actually starts at the Ladyville Community Centre with our pastor, George Lamb, who is opening up the parade and blessing it as the first ever. Then it goes down Perez Road, through Egbert Quilter Avenue to the Lord’s Bank community then it finishes at the cricket field in the Lord’s Bank community.”
