Keisha Torres Wins Tropigas Raffle
Christmas will be a lot brighter this year for a Belize City resident. Tropigas officially handed over twelve thousand dollars cash to Keisha Torres this morning at its Belize City branch office at downtown plaza on Albert Street. The “Live Free Raffle” is one of the newest initiatives of the company in which it is giving back to the community and a lucky winner of the grand prize is Torres. The Belize City resident says that earlier this month she purchased several household items through a promotion at Tropigas. News Five spoke today with Torres as well as Branch Manager, Malique Singh at the handing over of the big cheque.

“This initiative is the first of two that we are going to do. The first one was done on December twentieth and Keisha Torres obviously won that raffle as we have her here today. So we are doing the handing over; we have a big cheque prepared for her and she can choose whatever she wants to do with her money.”

“How was this made possible?”
Malique Singh
“Once you shopped. Any twenty-five dollars that you spent within our store within the past two and a half months or thereabout, you get a raffle ticket. And then you put that raffle ticket in the barrel and then we chose a winner. It was divided amongst the four Tropigas. We have four Tropigas here—Santa Elena, Belmopan, Orange Walk and Belize City. So we chose one from each location and then one was chosen from those four and it was so lucky that Miss Keisha Torres won.”

“It was Tuesday after coming off work when I got the call. The lady said I won twelve thousand dollars and I was surprised cause I have never won something like that before.”

“Now that you have it, what do you plan to do with that money?”
Keisha Torres
“After the long shopping for the Christmas and the holidays, it comes in handy.”
Duane Moody
“So any plans so far for it?”
Keisha Torres
“No. no plans for right now. So I will take it to bank and invest it.”
Duane Moody
“Talk to us about how many coupons you had in the barrel.”
Keisha Torres
“After purchasing the stuff, they give a ticket, I decided to fill it out, drop it in the barrel and that’s it.”
Duane Moody
“How much would you say you have in there?”
Keisha Torres
“I’m not sure.”
Malique Singh
“Our second draw is March thirty-first where we will be doing the same thing again. Someone gets the opportunity to win twelve thousand dollars. They either have their light bill, water bill, or their Tropigas bill paid. So they just come in, shop; any twenty-five dollars spent you get a raffle ticket to win twelve thousand dollars.”
