Fatal RTA Claims Life of Elderly Motorist

A sixty-one year old vendor from the village of Armenia died yesterday afternoon from injuries sustained when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by an SUV. It happened between miles fifty and fifty-one on the George Price Highway in Camalote. According to Police, at around three fifteen Marina Vasquez was driving her SUV in the direction of Belmopan, and observed Israel Romero on a red cycle in front of her vehicle. Vasquez told Police that she was overtaking the cycle when Romero made a sudden left turn right into the side of the SUV. The impact was sufficient to fling Romero violently to the pavement where he received multiple head and body injuries. Romero was taken to the Western Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. According to Police, Vasquez has been served a notice of intended prosecution pending the conclusion of the investigation.
