OW Police Investigate Disturbing Incidents of Sexual Assault

There are other reports of sexual assaults coming out of the Orange Walk District tonight. A fifteen year old minor claims that on two occasions, Christmas Eve and on November twenty-fourth, she was raped by two men. Her parents detected signs of sexual abuse and took her to the police station to file a report this morning. Another case of sexual assault reportedly happened on Boxing Day. An Orange Walk resident is accused of assaulting a five year old boy at his house in that municipality. He was caught by a relative and the cops were called in and readily detained the perp. Orange Walk Police Officer in Charge, Superintendent Selvyn Tillett, briefed the media today about both incidents.

“At about four-fifteen p.m., a Belizean house wife of Trial farm Village, Orange Walk reported that sometime around two p.m. the same date, she was awaken by shouts of her mother-in-law, who told her that she had caught a man in the process of sexually assaulting her five year old son. Police are investigating this issue and a male person in question has been detained pending charges.”

“Do you have any more details to that sir?”

“It was two p.m. in the day. So we are investigating at this moment and charges will be levied later on today.”

“Is the alleged perp known to police as someone that goes around trying to perpetrate this crime against minors?”

“Not at this moment, but if it had happened before, we dint know. now we have a report against him.”

“Orange Walk. On Monday, the twenty-eighth December, a fifteen year old female along with her mother and father, visited the Orange Walk Police Station where she reported that in the month of November this year, she had sexual intercourse with a male person. On the twenty-fourth of December, the same year, she had sexual intercourse with another male persons who kissed her and vamped her breast. The police are investigating this issue and if anything, people will be arrested and charged for this offense. The girl is under the age of sixteen, whether she consented or not; according to the law, she cannot event consent.”

“So it is rape?”

“No it’s not rape, it is carnal knowledge. Rape is against her will. But the law states that once she is under the age of sixteen, she cannot give consent.”
In the case of the sexual assault of the five year old boy, a man has been detained pending further investigation, while in the unlawful carnal knowledge of the fifteen year old girl; police are looking for two persons who are known to them.
