Days of Healing Will Provide Youths for Yoga Course
So how will the initiative get the youth to participate? Well that’s where Days of Healing and its Executive Director, Perry “Sticks” Smith comes in. With the organization’s assistance, a total of fifteen youth yoga instructors will be chosen for the course which starts in July of 2016.

“We noh select no youths as yet. the program is opened for any youth between the age of fourteen and eighteen—male or female—join up and be a part of this initiative. They can get in contact with me through 625-6836 and any youth who wants to be involved, parents just get in contact with me and I will sit with them and provide them the application forms and we will go over the course and when it will start and from there we will proceed forward. Since 2014 back in April since we started incorporating yoga into the Days of Healing, we’ve seen that a lot of youths gravitated to it and had an interest for it. But to facilitate them in a space, we didn’t have one. But because we see that the youths gravitated to it, I would say that yoga is something that not only the youths dehn need, the adults need it because yoga deals with the mind body and soul—healing; getting yourself together, physically, mentally, emotionally. And fi we youths in the city need that because they are bombarded with a lot of negative energies.”
Yogi Charu, International Yoga Trainer
“I’m an example of a kid right off the streets of Belize and I had the good fortune to get people who helped me to leave this country and at the present moment, I am traveling all over the world. I was just all over Asia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand Indonesia teaching. Who wouldn’t want a life like that? To travel the world and share goodwill and to see people relieve stress from their minds and body. So those are some of the side effects that if you take the training, those are some of the avenues that would open for the kids. The training is to help the kids to be teachers one, but when they go back into their communities; those who really have a passion of it, I am going to personally sponsor those kids and take them to Asia like I did and let them see the world. The world is not just a few block; for most of these kids, it’s just a few square miles, but the world is bigger and so I think everyone would like an opportunity like that.”
As we said, the training starts in July and runs for two weeks…there will then be a one month break for them to practice on their own and then the third week of August will see the trainees getting a final week of training.
