12 Year Old Student Missing in the City
Twelve-year-old Shinique Perez, a student of Saint Martin’s Primary School, remains missing tonight after failing to return to her classroom on Friday afternoon. The family was immediately notified by the school. Today, her grandmother, Eleanor Wright confirmed to News Five that Shinique has not been seen or heard from in the past three days and they fear for her safety. It is the first time she has run away from home and her parents are making a desperate plea for her safe return.
Eleanor Wright, Grandmother of Missing Girl
“She went to school on Friday and the afternoon when it was lunchtime she didn’t come back to school. So the teacher called and said that she wasn’t in school. So we said okay then, we don’t know where she went and that was it. From then until now nothing. We haven’t seen her. So what I am asking the public, if they see my granddaughter please call 627-9898.”

“Describe your granddaughter, is she a primary school student?”
Eleanor Wright
“Yes she is. She is in Standard Four and she’s hefty, she’s a big girl for her age, you know. Anybody would think well she’s older than twelve-years-old. She’s only twelve. So if anybody, anybody sees her please contact us or the nearest police station. I would really appreciate it a whole lot.”

“Does your granddaughter either have a history of running away or [anything]?”
Eleanor Wright
“This is the first time. This is the first time she has ever done this. You know, she has never, never yet done this to us. So I don’t know if maybe it’s friends that she has or what but this is the first time she has ever done this. It is not nice, you know. If you hear us honey please come home, your mom needs you and your grandmother needs you so please come home.”
