American Producer from ABC Murdered Near Resort in Cayo

Two weeks ago a Canadian filmmaker, Matthiew Klinck was murdered at his house in Selena in the Cayo District. Tonight, there is another murder to report which gives Belize a black eye and is likely to have an adverse impact on the tourism industry. This morning, the body of a vacationing American television producer with ABC network in Chicago was found floating on the Mopan River. Around eight a.m., Cayo Police discovered the body of thirty-nine year old Anne Elizabeth McComb Swaney who has been in Belize for a few days. Swaney was staying at the Nabitunich Farm Resort; its owner, forty-year old Santiago Juan reported she was missing on Thursday evening. Swaney had initially set out to go horse riding, but her decision to instead stay behind and perform yoga exercises cost her, her life. A search party went to work Thursday night, but was called off and around eight this morning police returned to the farm located between miles seventy-one and seventy-two on the George Price Highway. They made the shocking discovery of her partially nude body floating in the river. Swaney’s belongings were also recovered from a nearby deck along the banks of the river. The police say the body had visible injuries to the head and bruises around the neck.

“About yesterday morning, January fourteenth 2016 about eight a.m., a group of tourists who were staying at a place known as Nabitunich; that would be at the outskirts of Succotz village, Cayo District, when one of them decided to stay back to do some sort of exercise. Her name was Anne Elizabeth McComb Swaney, she is a U.S. national, thirty-nine years old of Chicago, U.S.A. Extensive searches were conducted yesterday evening by K-nine and Benque Viejo police. Sometime this morning, the body was found floating in the Mopan River and almost nude with the exception of a bra that was on her and signs of injuries on her head. So we believe that it was a murder.”
While Police say a post mortem examination will be conducted early next week on the body, one suspect has already been detained pending investigation.

This is very bad, it’s all over the news in the US Midwest, what a black eye to the resort and Belize. The resort needs to be held accountable for the murder and the high level of Rape, murders, sexual assault is out of control in Belize, etc,, just to mention a few, the news house said.
Some of those jungle resorts are overrated and practically bordering Guatemala. As a Belizean, I have never and will never stay at one of those that are walking distance from the Guatemalan border. Stay at a resort in a more public place and you’re fine.
Incident happened near Callee Creek a known crossing point of Contraband. At Nubantunich an isolated farm near there.

So sad, makes Belize look bad. Barrow giving citizenship to everyone for votes, and has forgotten the SECURITY of visitors and its citizens. How comes I don’t see him preaching about security of all. Now that he has go5your votes its like “Forget You”.
