Erlin Butler and Shanice Smith Bury the Hatchet in Court
A pair settled out of court this morning and saved themselves jail time. He was facing the possibility of ten years for burglary while she was facing imprisonment for dangerous harm. This morning before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser, Shanice Smith paid Erlin Butler six hundred dollars in cash and withdrew charges against him for burglary and harm. All Butler told the Senior Magistrate was that he wanted Smith to return the two hundred dollars he gave her for sexual favours and four hundred dollars he used to buy her a cell phone. In March 2014, Smith was at her Mahogany Heights home when she claimed Butler forced himself into her house and fearing for her life, she inflicted several stab wounds on him. Butler was hospitalized for one week and after receiving treatment, he was taken to court. It is not clear if they were in a relationship, but Butler was helping her out financially and she never thought anything else of his kindness. Butler who did not wish to give an on camera interview only said that he is happy with today’s court outcome.
