CIBC Makes Final Donation to Belizean Organizations

CIBC First Caribbean International Bank in its final act of social responsibility, made a contribution of fifteen thousand five hundred dollars to nine organizations in the city. Today at its local headquarters on Albert Street, executives of the bank handed over the cheques to Anglican Cathedral College, the Belize Red Cross, Belize City No Limit Basketball Club, Canaan SDA High School, Ebenezer Methodist School, Edward P Yorke, Ephesus SDA Primary School, HelpAge Belmopan and Queen Square Baptist School. “First Caribbean has always taken its corporate social responsibility serious. We always see ourselves not just as being in the community to extract, but to also give back. So even as we leave now, I had made a commitment at the Customer Appreciation function held last week Saturday night at the Biltmore that I’d give every last cent; I wouldn’t be taking any back out of the country. and so it is in honoring that commitment that we seek to give and we selected these final contributions very carefully because we wanted to make sure and to ensure that the bodies and organizations that get it will be able to have the maximum impact on the maximum number of people.”

“The Belize Red Cross has been a customer of this bank for so many years and Barclays before that; actually, I remember that because I was with Barclays for twenty-seven years. And it is a great feeling to know that on the last day, they are still handing out much needed help that an organization like the Red Cross and all the others need to reach out to the people. So they are still reaching out to the community through us. And I feel proud and content that we are able to carry out their outreach even further, for a few more months with their help. Our money will be used in our social assistance weekly soup kitchen which services the elderly, the sick, and the homeless every week at the HQ building on Handyside Street.”
