Residents Need Electricity at the Education Center
The residents of Mahogany Heights are also looking for a Good Samaritan to assist in the community. It’s not asking for much…just electricity in a small building. It’s actually the health center, if you can believe that, but the intention is to use half of it as an education center where children can hang out after school, doing homework in a safe and supervised setting.
Raquel Vega, Chairlady, Mahogany Heights
“We can’t forget the kids. We’re doing a service in the evening where in the evenings when they come from school they could come to our center. They can come in and do their homework on the computer that we have, that we need to get started. But presently the building that we’re using doesn’t have any electricity. So that is the reason it’s not up and running as yet. So if you know about anyone out there who would want to support and help this community to make a turnaround any help will do to assist us with our evening program. When our kids come home from school they’re walking around, nothing to do and we want to stop that. We want to gather these kids, work with them through an education program, you know, and we can break the barrier here with our young ones through this program here, working with the Hattieville Police. They are out here working with us in the evenings to supervise these kids so this is a good program that we know will make a difference here in Mahogany Heights.”
