Bandits Steal Cop’s Ride…Vehicle Found in Guatemala

There was a bold and brazen car-jacking in Benque over the weekend. For one thing it happened in broad daylight in a populated area. For another, the vehicle was in the possession of a senior member of the Police Department when two persons decided to claim it as their own. Officer Commanding the Orange Walk Police Department, Assistant Superintendent of Police Selvyn Tillett found himself in the uncomfortable and unexpected position of giving a statement to Benque Police on Sunday after he was robbed at gunpoint. Today authorities told News Five that swift and efficient collaboration between Benque and Melchor Police has resulted in the discovery of the vehicle, a white late model Mazda pickup.

“On Sunday February fourteenth, 2016, sometime around one-thirty p.m., Selvyn Tillett, forty-seven year old Police Officer of Lomas del Rodeo, Benque Viejo Town visited the Benque Viejo Police Station and reported that at around 11:00am he was driving his son-in-law’s white 2014 Mazda pickup and while parking the said vehicle in front of his house he was approached by two Hispanic male persons unknown to him. One of the male persons pointed a handgun at him and demanded the keys for the vehicle and drove off in the vehicle. The vehicle from our investigation headed across the border through the Arenal area. Around ten-thirty, eleven this morning we were informed by the PNC that the vehicle was found about ten miles from Melchor at an area known as Camalote. The vehicle was intact and has since been taken to the Melchor Police Station.”
