Randy Dominguez is Convicted of Sexual Assault of Minor
There were three cases of sexual abuse, one ended in a conviction. A resident of Biscayne, Belize District, is serving his first night of a three-year sentence imposed upon him today for two counts of sexual assault against an eight-year-old girl. Twenty-five-year old Randy Dominguez was surprised by the girl’s mother; she found him and the minor in the bedroom of their house. Dominguez’s story did not add up so the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith sentenced him to three years on each count, but the sentences are to run concurrently so Dominguez will only serve three years. In imposing sentence, the Chief Magistrate said she took into consideration, the mitigating and aggravating factor in Dominquez’s case. The mitigating factor is that he is a first time offender and is remorseful for his action. The aggravating factor is that the crime was perpetrated against a minor; it occurred while her younger brother was asleep in the same room she was being molested. The eight-year-old testified that in June and November 2014, Dominguez touched her on her private parts. Dominquez claimed the child’s mother fabricated the allegations because his relationship with her had gone sour. On the dock he attempted to explain why he was caught with his pants down with the minor, but the Chief Magistrate was not convinced.
