Senate team continues to dig into S.S.B.
The special committee appointed to conduct a review of the loans and investments made by the Social Security Board, met again this week at the National Assembly building in Belmopan. According to a release from the office of the clerk, the committee has agreed on the terms of reference of selecting a special purpose auditor to probe the investment portfolio of the S.S.B. Chairman of the sub committee, Senator Godwin Hulse told News 5 this afternoon that the position will be put out to tender, the notice for which will be advertised within the next two weeks. As for defining the legal boundaries of the committee, Hulse says while he and his team will consult with legal counsel appointed to the senate and the rest of the national assembly, Chief Parliamentary Counsel, Solicitor General Elson Kaseke, advice will also be sought from other attorneys and legal experts. Hulse and the other three committee members also inspected several original documents at the headquarters of the S.S.B. in Belmopan as part of their scrutiny of loan portfolios and mortgage securitisations. The participating members of Senate Committee are Senators Godwin Hulse, Moises Chan, Rene Gomez, Dickie Bradley.
