Lucy Fleming new BTIA president

The Belize Tourism Industry Association has a new Executive Board with Lucy Fleming of Chaa Creek voted in as President, succeeding Steven Schulte. The new First Vice President is Alberto Villanueva, second Vice President is Rosella Zabaneh, Treasurer is Santiago Gomez, and Secretary is Ramon Reyes, Jr. During Thursday’s Annual General Meeting at the Princess Hotel, a number of BTIA members voiced their discontent over the government’s contract with Carnival Cruise Lines for the development of a new port and proposed hotel and Casino. A motion was made from the floor and members voted unanimously to have BTIA’s legal counsel undertake a review of the Contract with a view to possible legal action.
