Solar Panels Are Being Stolen from G.O.B. Project in Belmopan

Belmopan police are reporting the robbery of solar panels from a government project. According to the Project Engineer for Road Safety project of the Ministry of Works, this past Tuesday, they detected that the solar panels attached to the radar signs between miles thirty-eight and thirty-nine on the George Price Highway were stolen. The panels have a value of one thousand eight hundred dollars and the public is being asked to provide any information on the whereabouts of the panels.  That robbery was followed by another in the Roaring Creek area.  Three females who were near the river were robbed of several items by two armed men. It happened at about three in the afternoon. Twenty-one year old Shanda McKoy told the police she was with her thirteen-year-old cousin and a friend when the robbery occurred. The assailants were carrying a knife and handgun and wearing black rubber boots. McKoy was relieved of her two gold chains valued at seven hundred and fifty dollars and her friend of her cell phone, chain and other items. Police have detained David August, who was found in possession of some of the stolen items. Another alleged robber, Michael Middleton, who is believed to have been carrying the firearm, is also in custody. Police also found two pairs of black rubber boots in the immediate area. The two are expected to be charged with robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
