Seine Bight Bartender stabbed to death
Meanwhile, around twenty-four hours earlier in Seine Bight Village in the Stann Creek District, another Belizean, forty-eight year old Roderick White, was about to have his life cut short. According to police, they found White unconscious on the floor of his apartment with what appeared to be cut wounds to the forehead and abdomen. He died later that day while receiving treatment at the Southern Regional Hospital in Dangriga. White was a bartender at the popular roadside open air bar known as Wamasa and lived in the building next door which formerly housed Dave’s market. Reports from Seine Bight indicate that White, deputy chairman of the village water board, was stabbed while he slept, his assailant entering the building through a window. Initial suspicions focussed on two Hondurans, one of whom had been in a previous altercation with White in which White busted a quart bottle over his head. The Hondurans were detained by police, but later released for lack of evidence. Investigations continue in both the Cayo and Stann Creek murders and anyone with information on either crime is encouraged to earn reward money by calling the Crimestoppers hotline at 922.
