Criminal Minds Belize Episode wasn’t Really Shot in Belize

We’re pretty willing to bet that a lot of viewers tuned into CBS Wednesday night for the first airing of this week’s Criminal Minds. It’s a popular show featuring a hotshot F.B.I. team solving violent crimes. But this episode was special – Criminal Minds Beyond Borders…in Belize. That’s right, that hotshot team in the jewel, on San Pedro. So with that said, we’re also willing to bet that you’re likely one of the many venting their displeasure and disappointment on social media today. Apart from Belize being mentioned at least one hundred and thirteen times during the hour long show, there’s nothing else remotely Belizean in it. We’ve been able to confirm that the Criminal Minds crew was never actually in Belize, but only bought some footage for authenticity. That’s why there’s a US Consulate on San Pedro, which in the show has mysteriously developed large hills and beaches we’ve never seen on Ambergris Caye. And perhaps also why one actor is speaking Creole you’ll certainly never hear in Belize. Then there is the Belizean cannibal eating body parts as part of an ancient Mayan ritual. So disappointment aside, can we get away with saying any publicity is good publicity? You may have to decide that one yourselves.

Amen to that! Sitting here in States watching, I thought it was the stupidest thing I have ever seen! The only black Belizean was the tow truck driver. And car rental on San Pedro? Really? Anyone who has ever lived in Belize knows the whole thing was fake!
