Journalist releases new photo CD

Story Picture
His work as a journalist has taken him to parts of the country that most people only hear or read about. But now Melvin Flores is giving you a chance to experience Belize through the lens of his camera. He has just released a photo CD of over a hundred images he and his six year old son put together into a project called: ?Belize: a photo album?.

Melvin Flores, Photographer/Journalist

?It?s a compilation of photographs that I was able to capture within a period of six months. The reason I came up with it is that I was able to travel the entire country as an investigative journalist for the past twelve years. And by doing that I was able to see the beautiful images that Belize has to offer to everyone, especially to those of us who live here in Belize and also to visitors. And after speaking to a number of friends I realize that most of them didn?t have an idea where these places were, that I spoke about.?

Patrick Jones

?Who would you want to get a copy of this??

Melvin Flores

?Belizeans; mostly Belizeans and also parents so they could give it to their kids and their kids could know what Belize is about. Because many people think Belize is just the Cayes, or it?s someone going to some big exotic restaurants or resort when in reality there are many hidden places that are so accessible to the family on a whole and especially at a time like now during the September celebrations. Why not give something–a gift to your kids–to let them know how beautiful this country is.?

Flores says ?Belize: a photo album? is available for fifteen dollars at Old Belize on the Western Highway, Belize Caribbean Treasures and the Handicraft Centre. Work has started on volume two, which Flores says will include aerial shots and other images comparing Belize past and present.
