Austin Gabourel Charged for Caye Caulker Murder
Twenty-year-old Austin Gabourel is tonight behind bars accused of murdering a Caye Caulker resident over the weekend. Late this afternoon, Gabourel was read a single charge of murder for the April seventeenth murder of Leon Gordon. He appeared unrepresented in the courtroom of the Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June seventeenth, 2016 since bail is not an option. Gordon was stabbed to the abdomen at the Sip and Dip Bar located on Avenida Hicao in the island when he was allegedly trying to part a fight between Gabourel and Jeremy Rhaburn. Police say when they located Gabourel, he had cut wounds to his index finger and a large cut on his face.
