John Saldivar Launches Music Video for his Campaign

On Friday night in Belmopan, area representative John Saldivar bused in delegates to attend the launch of a music video and jingle as part of his ongoing campaign.  Saldivar is also contesting the first deputy leadership of the United Democratic Party and is reaching out to all voters in an effort to gain their support.  According to Saldivar, he has been mentally preparing for this opportunity for some time now and is seeing his efforts to fruition.

John Saldivar, Candidate for Deputy Leader

“It’s going great.  I am very, very excited, very enthusiastic about the support that I’ve been getting.  I know that you probably have been treated to other results from the other side but I am confident that we are well on the way to a significant victory.”

“I gather that you have been canvassing all thirty-one constituencies meeting with the delegates.  What has that been like in terms of the reception?”

“The reception has been great.  We had a function on Friday night where we brought in over three hundred delegates from across the country for the launching of our music video and song and so that really helped to energize our people, as we got participation from at least half of or in some constituencies in the district and almost all of Belize City.”

“Now the gravity of this particular political race that you’re in, if I may, is that either yourself or Patrick Faber, once elected as deputy leader, could actually succeed party leader and Prime Minister Dean Barrow in the near future.  Is this something that you have been mentally and prepared for otherwise to take up this leadership mantle?”

John Saldivar

“Well you have to be mentally prepared, you have to be otherwise prepared and as I have always said, once my party calls on me to take up these various leadership roles, I believe I am ready and certainly willing to take it on.”

The special convention to choose the deputy leader of the U.D.P. is scheduled for Sunday, May twenty-ninth at the ITVET Compound in Belize City.
