Courts awards Primary School scholarships

Story Picture
It’s the first full week of the new primary school year and while some students are still adjusting to their classes, today eight lucky children from across the country–not to mention their parents–got some financial help from Courts. As part of its community outreach programme, the electronics and furniture store gave participating customers a chance to win a scholarship. Marketing coordinator Parveen Hamilton says it’s the promotion’s second year.

Parveen Hamilton, Marketing Coordinator, COURTS

?This is just one of the ways that we give back and being the season for school, we thought this was the most appropriate time to give back. So, each of the recipients received up to fifteen hundred dollars towards their child?s education. And that is valid for one year, so up until next year August, they have to use that fifteen hundred dollars.?

Nadia Caliz, Recipient Winner

?I must say it?s very helpful. Since we?ve been asked to bring in the receipts for money we?ve spent already, I realize that I spent over two thousand dollars on both of my kids, so getting back one thousand five hundred is going to be very, very helpful.?

Patrick Jones

?Did you ever thing that you would get a scholarship from Courts??

Nadia Caliz

?I never thought I would win anything. So, thank God I must say. It comes at a needed time.?

Teresita Sanker, Recipient Winner

?Well it is a good help for me because we need a lot of help because we have four kids going to school. And it is a big expense for four kids in school and you know that school open right now they need this, they need the other. Just yesterday we had a meeting at school teachers done say we need this and other things at school for the kids and we know they need a lot in school.?

Hamilton says the recipients must provide proof that the scholarship is used for the intended purpose by supplying official receipts. The recipients were drawn from the seven Courts branches plus one from a recent sales trip to Punta Gorda.
