Suspect arrested in fatal hit & run
It is not being classified as a murder, but what do you call it when a man gets drunk, steals a car, knocks down a pedestrian and drives away, leaving his victim to die. That’s pretty much what happened on Saturday night in Orange Walk. The dead man is seventy year old Dionicio Villar, of a San Antonio Road address in Orange Walk. He was walking on that road near his home when he was hit by a gold Isuzu pickup that did not stop. Villar later died of his injuries at Northern Regional Hospital. Police eventually found the vehicle, complete with a damaged fender, and found that it had been reported stolen an hour earlier from in front of a local nightspot. Following investigations, police arrested twenty-two year old Mark Cadle and have charged him with the crimes of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, failure to stop and render aid, failure to report a traffic accident, driving without due care and attention, driving with alcohol content above the prescribed limit, driving without a valid driver’s permit and theft of a motor vehicle.
