Double Murder in Cayo, Was it Drug-related?

There was a double murder today in the west off the cutoff to the garbage dump near Misty Meadow Farms. Two Guatemalan nationals were found murdered off a feeder road between mile sixty-nine and seventy leading to the Mopan River. The bodies of the two men were lying side by side with multiple gunshots. At this location last month, police found one hundred and sixty-five pounds of drugs. At this early stage, it is suspected that the murders were motivated by a drug deal gone wrong. Late this evening, police offered a brief comment on the double murder.

Supt. Richard Rosado, Officer Commanding, San Ignacio Police

“On April the twenty-eighth, 2016 at about two p.m., San Ignacio Police received information of two lifeless bodies on a feeder road of the George Price Highway between miles sixty-nine and seventy. Police visited the scene where the lifeless body of two male Hispanic descent individuals with apparent gunshot wounds to the back of the head were found. Our initial investigations reveal that the two individuals are Guatemalan nationals and based on certain evidential materials that were collected at the scene, it bears the characteristics of a drug transaction gone bad. The bodies were transported to the San Ignacio Polyclinic where it awaits a post mortem.”
