Beauty queens plan charity fundraiser
You may have seen them making the rounds in Belize City but lest you think Dalila Vanzie, Miss Belize World and Jade Fulford, Miss Jamaica World, are in the country promoting yet another pageant, you will be surprised to know that these two young women have been working for a more meaningful cause. The project is the Encore Foundation and it’s the brainchild of Vanzie, who has committed herself to provide much needed recreational activities for Belize’s elderly. Both beauties stopped by our studios to speak about their promotional tour and the fundraiser they have planned for October thirtieth at the Maruba Resort.
Dalila Vanzie, Miss Belize World
“Encore Foundation is a foundation that we are starting for the Sister Cecilia Home for the Elderly for the Octavia Waight centre and for the HIV/AIDS society. The idea is to raise funds so that we can have little outings for the elderly. Because you know they’re in the home most of the time and they only have visitors. So it will be nice for them to look forward to something. You know going out to the park, to a restaurant or even just driving around. The whole idea is having them come out of the home.”
“We are going to be having what’s called the “Jungle Masquerade Ball”. It’s a grand charity event; a dinner. It’s on the thirtieth of October and around Halloween time so that’s why we called it a masquerade ball. It?s going to be great and we are going to have an auction as well. The girls will be doing short introduction speeches and also if they have any talents, they will also will be doing that.”
Jade Fulford, Miss Jamaica World
It’s going to be a ball and us girls from this World pageant will be there. I will be there. There will be Miss Venezuela, Miss. Dominican Republic, Miss. Puerto Rico, Miss. Switzerland, Miss Canada; the list goes on. You name it, they will be there. A lot of people will be there. These are celebrities, public figures in their country and they have taken time out of their busy schedules to come to Belize to see the beautiful country, but also to lend a supporting hand to this wonderful cause and to raise money for this charity affair. I am very proud to be here and I hope the other people will come to support us as well.”
