Third arrest made in Gallaty shooting
In Police news, a third suspect has been arrested and charged in the shooting of businessman Phillip Gallaty. Twenty-four year old Aniver Palacio of Neal’s Pen Road in Belize City has been charged with Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Harm, Use of Deadly Means of Harm and Grievous Harm. He joins Frank Eligio and Kenrick Reneau, already on remand at Hattieville prison, for the same crime. On the morning of April twenty-eighth Gallaty was shot and seriously wounded in what was apparently a robbery attempt as his car slowed down for a speed bump on the Northern Highway in Ladyville. Investigators are trying to determine whether Gallaty was a pre-selected target or a random victim.
Also charged today was one of the men detained following the passing of two counterfeit blue notes at a Belize City gas station. Twenty-nine year old Michael Coleman of Banak Street has been charged with the crime of obtaining property by deception.
