Gapi Will Not Be DPM after Next Week
Patrick Faber will be the new Deputy Prime Minister next week when current DPM Gaspar Vega returns from high-level meetings. So Vega is no longer Deputy Party Leader and very soon will no longer be Deputy Prime Minister which would seem on the face of it to be significant loss of political power in the Party and in Government. We spoke to Vega at Sunday’s Convention and asked him if this means he will be going quietly into that political goodnight. He says that won’t happen, and title and power never really mattered to him anyway.
Gaspar Vega, Supporting John Saldivar
“I always said that title to me doesn’t mean anything. At the end of the day what will matter to me is that when I lobby for my people I get the same support as everybody else and at the end of the day that’s my priority – to ensure that Orange Walk North continues to get the attention and the support that they have been getting in the last eight, nine years.”

“Finally in the past couple months have you had any reason to rethink your decision. You have stated that you are going to be leaving politics at the end of this term.”
Gaspar Vega
“I will be leaving as an Area Rep and as the Deputy Party Leader, but I will be an active U.D.P. for much longer than that.”
Mike Rudon
“Have you had any reason to rethink your decision?”
Gaspar Vega
“No, I haven’t had any reason yet.”
Gapi has grabbed some much land that he doesn’t care about the position of party leader!! and that’s the bottom line.
