Bzean canoeists make waves in intl. races

Belizean canoeists continue to make waves in international waters, as latest reports are that the nation?s top paddlers have received awarded at several events in the United States. According to the Belize Canoe Association, Armin Lopez, Alex Lisbey and Daniel Cruz, all winners in the annual La Ruta Maya River Challenge, attended the Texas State Championships held at the end of July. Lopez received top honours in the Standard Class and Mixed categories while Lisbey and Cruz claimed first prize in the Competitive class division of the race. The Texas State Championships are held on a wide flat section of the Colorado River in Columbus Texas with the entire course being four miles in length. Competitors race around the course in loops. Kudos to the Belizean participants and their sponsors for their efforts.
