Salvadoran National Remanded for Sexual Assault of Minor
Earlier we told you about the sentencing of Ervin Reneau for the double murder of David Longworth and Edgar Ayala. But in the lower court, a forty-year-old Salvadoran national, who has been living in Belize for over twenty-two years, was placed on remand for a single count of sexual assault of a seven year old girl. Julio Alexander Devas is accused of sexually abusing the minor by kissing her earlier this year in May, but he pleaded not guilty to the charge. Bail was objected on the grounds that he is a flight risk and may not show up for his trial. Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith agreed and denied him bail. Devas was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August first, 2016.
