Two charged for Blondell murder

Quick police work has led to the arrest of two men for the brutal murder of Mary Blondell. Eighteen-year-old Guatemalan Walter Lopez and thirty-five year old Salvadoran Carlos Rene Granillos have been arrested and charged with murder and burglary. Blondell?s body was found Monday morning buried in a shallow grave not far from her farm near Five Blues Lake off the Hummingbird Highway. The seventy-three year old naturalized Belizean migrated to Belize thirty years ago from the United States. She had been stabbed numerous times and according to a post-mortem examination, she died from asphyxia following the cutting of her throat. Motive for the killing is believed to be robbery.
