Spoonaz Café Burglar Caught and Arraigned
Spoonaz Café, the well-known and popular business place on North Front Street, Belize City, was burglarized recently and the culprit was caught on a surveillance camera. He has been identified as Derick Garbutt, who was arraigned this evening on a single charge of burglary to which he pleaded not guilty. There was heavy objection to bail and Garbutt was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August twenty-fifth, 2016. He is accused of breaking into the café and stealing an assortment of items with a total of one thousand seven hundred dollars from Frank Spooners. The burglary took place between May thirtieth and thirty-first. Garbutt was seen on camera as he stole the items. Just last week on June eighth, 2016, Garbutt appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with a single count of common assault; he took a guilty plea and was sentenced to three months behind bars.
